Judith Glassman Jewelry Designs is owned and operated by Judith Glassman, who is a wonderfully sweet and dynamic woman! She has been creating beautifully unique necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and custom designs since the 1960's. It was love at first creation for her and she has continued to expanded her repertoire over the years, incorporating Swarovski Crystals, semi-precious stones, Lucite, vintage glass and buttons into her one-of-a-kind jewelry designs.

Among Judith's talents, she has written many books that crafters and jewelry makers have found to be very insightful. She was receiving so many questions about where she found her supplies, that it inspired her to write her first book entitled New York Guide to Craft Supplies, for Workman Publishing, followed by the New New York Guide to Craft Supplies. Then publishers were asking her to create crafts books, which lead to The National Guide to Craft Supplies, Step by Step Beadcraft, and The Sweater Book. She also found time to write craft articles for The New York Times and New York magazine, as well as designing sweaters for the Good Housekeeping Needlecraft Institute.

She went on to write non-fiction books and articles on many subjects ranging from music, cancer survivors, and computer technology. The need to create jewelry exploded again in 2001. One winter morning a cold necklace led her to add fiber as a jewelry material. For years she sold to private customers and as fate would have it, jewelry became a true business in 2015, when she made the leap to create her own website. Here's a Swarovski Crystal and Pearl Tassel Necklace that I recently made for my friend's Birthday!

I used 5810-6mm and 8mm Brown Pearls (Velvet Brown Pearls are a wonderful color substitution, as Brown has been discontinued), 5000-10mm Mocca Crystal Beads, 5000-6mm & 8mm Crystal Golden Shadow Round Beads, 5328-4mm & 6mm Crystal Silver Shade Bicone Beads, and a 5523-12mm Crystal Silver Shade Cosmic Bead. For the focal component, I used the 4439-20mm Square Bead in Crystal Dorado (technically a Fancy Stone because it doesn't have any holes in it, unless you count the large one in the middle). The Crystal Dorado is nice because one side is the Dorado Coating that you see in the picture, and the other side is a medium grey tone, that blends nicely with the Crystal Silver Shade. The very last little sparkling detail, is the 6620-20mm Avant-Garde Pendant in Crystal Golden Shadow.

My friend absolutely LOVES her new Swarovski Crystal and Pearl Tassel Necklace! She put it on right away after opening it and I've seen her three times since and every time she's been wearing it!! She says it goes with so many outfits, which is incredibly fun and rewarding that I made something that she loves so much!

It's one of my Best Girlfriend's Birthday's and I wanted to make her something extra special and sparkly! She Looooves sparkles! I've made her many Swarovski Crystal sun-catchers over the years and she has them hanging all over her home. She has one room with huge south facing windows and she loves texting me pictures of all the rainbows dancing about. She calls it Rainbow Power Hour! I love it, it always brightens my day!

Here's Lauren & I a few years ago having fun and celebrating the holidays together. I (left) have the goofiest look on my face (honestly, what am I doing???!!!) I really didn't want to post this (so embarrassing) but it was a great one of her, and it is HER day after all...so I took one for the bestie team ;-)

Anywhoes....the new Swarovski 6926-36mm Growing Crystal Rhombus Pendants are so absolutely STUNNING, that I knew she had to have one! I've been so inspired by these beauties that I made her a necklace that I'm sure she will love!

Here it is......

She loves necklaces with large pendants that sit right on her upper chest as a brilliant focal point, so I handmade this little treasure for her. I wanted it to be fairly neutral in color, so that she could wear it with a lot of different outfits.

I decided on Swarovski Crystal 5810 Light Grey Pearls, Clear and Crystal Silver Shade highlights in 5328-4mm & 6mm Xilion Biocne Beads, with a few 5000-6mm Round Crystal Satin accents.

As the fashionistas say, grey is the new black, so I thought a mixture of light and medium grey tones would work well together, balanced out with clear crystal.

For the unique accent beads, I used a 5500-10mm Pearshape Swarovski Crystal Bead as well as the Swarovski 5650-12mm Cubist Bead in Crystal Silver Shade.

I chose a similar rhombus shaped clasp to compliment the Rhombus Crystal.

Supplies:

4 10mm link settings “Almost Instant Jewelry” by Fire Mountain Gems #H20-3040MT

5” 20 gauge Gold Artistic Wire

1 lobster clasp

5 4mm jump rings

1 2” head pin

Swarovski crystal two-part epoxy glue

Alcohol wipes

Instructions

Step 1: Using the alcohol wipes clean each of the 10mm link settings. Using the two part epoxy, glue into each of the 10mm link settings the 4470 10mm light Colorado topaz shimmer cushion stones. Set aside to dry.

Step 2: Cut the 20 gauge wire into five 1” pieces. Using one piece of wire make a simple loop, slide on one 5810 10mm velvet brown pearl and make a simple loop. Repeat four more times and set aside.

Step 3: Using one head pin slide on one 5000 10mm light Colorado topaz shimmer bead and wire wrap to close. Set aside.

Step 4: To make bracelet: using one jump ring attach lobster clasp to one pearl component made in Step 2. Then attach to one cushion stone component made in Step 1. Repeat pattern 4 more times ending with a pearl component. Add on 4 jump rings in a chain and then add on the bead component made in Step 3.

Instructions

Step 1: Using the alcohol wipes clean each of the 10mm link settings. Using the two part epoxy, glue into each of the 10mm link settings the 4470 10mm light Colorado topaz shimmer cushion stones. Set aside to dry.

Step 2: Cut the 20 gauge wire into four 1” pieces.

Step 3: Using one piece of wire make a simple loop, slide on one 5810 10mm velvet brown pearl and make a simple loop. Repeat once more time and set aside.

Step 4: Using one piece of wire make a simple loop, slide on one 5810 5mm velvet brown pearl and make a simple loop. Repeat once more time and set aside.

Step 5: Using one head pin, slide on one 5810 3mm velvet brown pearl and make a simple loop. Repeat once more time and set aside.

Step 6: To create earring: Starting with an ear wire attach to the 10mm pearl component made in Step 3, then attach to one cushion component made in Step 1, then attach one 5mm pearl component made in Step 4, then attach one 3230 12x7mm light Colorado topaz shimmer sew on, and finally one 3mm pearl component made in Step 3.

4¾” Flora Rings TierraCast® 94-3200-27

1 12mm Faceted Rivoli Link TierraCast® 94-3152-27

30 4mm oval jump rings

5 6mm round jump rings

12 2mm crimp beads

Swarovski crystal two-part epoxy glue

Instructions

Step 1: Using the alcohol wipes clean the Rivoli link. Using the two part epoxy glue in one 1122 12mm light Colorado topaz shimmer Rivoli into the link and set aside to dry for 24 hours.

Step 2: Cut the beading wire into six 12” pieces and set aside.

To Create Necklace Strands:

Step 3: Strand #1: Using one piece of wire slide on one crimp bead and one Flora Ring and crimp to close. Attach crimp cover. Slide on five 5328 4mm light Colorado topaz shimmer bicones, one 5000 8mm light Colorado topaz shimmer bead, three 5328 6mm light Colorado topaz shimmer bicones, and one 5000 8mm light Colorado topaz shimmer bead. Repeat this pattern 4 more times and end the strand with five 5328 4mm light Colorado topaz shimmer bicones. Close off the end with a piece of scotch tape.

Step 4: Strand #2: Using one piece of wire slide on one crimp bead and the same Flora Ring and crimp to close next to the first strand. Attach crimp cover. Slide on five 5328 4mm Erinite shimmer bicones and five 5328 6mm Erinite shimmer bicones. Repeat this pattern 4 more times and end the strand with five 5328 4mm Erinite shimmer bicones. Close off the end with a piece of scotch tape.

Step 5: Strand #3: Using one piece of wire slide on one crimp bead and the same Flora Ring and crimp to close next to the first strand. Attach crimp cover. Slide on five 5328 4mm black diamond shimmer bicones, one 5000 8mm black diamond shimmer bead, three 5328 6mm black diamond shimmer bicones, and one 5000 8mm black diamond shimmer bead. Repeat this pattern 4 more times and end the strand with five 5328 4mm black diamond shimmer bicones. Close off the end with a piece of scotch tape.

Step 6: Begin to make a tight braid with the three strands created in steps 3-5. When the braid is complete, slide on a crimp bead and one Flora Ring to one of the strands and crimp to close. Attach crimp cover. Repeat this step for the other two strands.

Step 7: Repeat Steps 3 – 6 to make other side of the necklace.

Step 8: Using 3 oval jump rings, attach them together to create a chain and then use this to attach one side of the Flora toggle to one of the Flora rings. Repeat this to attach the other side of the toggle.

Step 9: Using one round jump ring attach the Rivoli link made in Step 1 to the bottom Flora ring on the necklace. Using another round jump ring attach the bottom of the Rivoli link to another Flora Ring.

Step10: Using the oval jump rings make three chains with them. One with 4 rings, one with 8 rings, and one with 12 rings. On the bottom of each of these chains attach one 6106 16mm black diamond shimmer pendant. Using round jump rings, attach each chain to the bottom of the last Flora ring.

Step 1: Using one head pin slide on one 3mm 5328 jet bead, one 5750 19mm crystal red magma skull bead and then one 5328 3mm jet bead. Wire wrap to close. Using one 4mm oval jump ring attach skull to 3254 30x14mm Diamond Leaf Sew On jet and set aside. Repeat this 2 more times.

Step 2: Attach together three 6mm jump rings to create a chain. Using last jump ring attach to one end of 3254 30x14mm Diamond Leaf Sew On jet. Add three 6mm jump rings to other end of sew on. Using last jump ring attach to one end of 3254 20x9mm Diamond Leaf Sew On stone. Repeat this process adding the diamond leaf sew on stones in the following order (lg, sm, sm, sm, sm, sm, sm, lg, sm, lg). Add 3 more jump rings and the large classic hook.

Step 3: Find the center of the necklace and using one 6mm jump ring attach one of the components from Step 1. Moving up two links to the right attach a second component and finally moving two links to the left of center add the third component.

Step 1: Clean the Rivoli frame with the alcohol wipe. Using two part epoxy glue the Rivoli into the Rivoli frame and add a jump ring and set aside.

Step 2: Using a headpin slide on one crystal skull bead and make a simple loop and add a jump ring. Repeat for second skull bead and set aside.

Step 3: Using a headpin slide on one bicone, one BeCharmed bead and one bicone and make a simple loop and add a jump ring. Set aside.

Step 4: Using a headpin slide on brass Rose skull and make a simple loop and add a jump ring. Set aside.

Step 5: Add a jump ring to the spike pendant and set aside.

3½ rings of memory wire

Instructions

Step 1: Using one head pin slide on one skull bead and make a simple loop. Repeat once and set aside.

Step 2: Using a round nose plier turn one end of the memory wire until you have a double turn.

Step 3: Onto the memory wire slide on one 5328 6mm jet bicone, {two 6mm pearls, two 4mm pearls, two 3mm pearls, two 4mm pearls, 6mm pearls, one 5328 6mm jet bicone, one BeCharmed bead, and one 5328 6mm jet bicone. Repeat the pearl section and add one Pave Ball, repeat the pearl section and add one 5328 4mm bicone, one 5238 6mm bicone and one 5328 6mm bicone. Repeat the pearl section and add one 5328 6mm bicone.} Repeat the entire pattern in brackets one more time to finish bracelet.

Step 4: Trim the memory wire to leave a 1” tail. Using the pliers turn the wire until it tightens to the last bead.

Step 5: Using the skulls from Step 1, add onto each of the loops on the bracelet to complete.

Instructions

Step 1: Using one headpin slide on one pave ball and one pearl. Leaving ¼” of space on the headpin make a simple loop. Attach this to the bottom of the button shank where it will swing freely.

Step 2: Using one eye pin slide on one pearl. Leaving ¼” of space on the eye pin make a simple loop. Attach the ear wire to one end. Attach the other end of the eye pin to the top half of the button shank. Slide the pearl up to the top of the ear wire. Using the alcohol wipe clean the back of the button. Using a small drop of two-part epoxy placed on the back of the button above the shank to hold the eye pin in place. Set aside.

Step 3: Repeat Steps 1-2 for second earring.

Step 5: To make first earring use the 6-hole bar. In the first hole use a jump ring and add one component from Step 1. In the sixth hole use a jump ring and add one component from Step 2. Using two jump rings attach them both to the component from Step 3, then attach one ring to hole 3 and the other to hole 4. Now attach an ear wire to the top of the bar.

Step 6: To make second earring use the 6-hole bar. In the first hole use a jump ring and add one component from Step 1. In the sixth hole use a jump ring and add one component from Step 2. Using two jump rings attach them both to the component from Step 4, then attach one ring to hole 3 and the other to hole 4. Now attach an ear wire to the top of the bar.

50” 24 gauge black artistic wire

1 metal Jack O’Lantern luminary

Instructions

Step 1: Using one headpin slide on one candy corn bead and one 5328 4mm tangerine bead and make a simple loop. Make a simple loop and add a jump ring. Repeat once and set aside.

Step 2: Using the 24 gauge wire attach it to one end of the metal handle. Begin sliding one the beads in the following order: five 5328 4mm jet beads, one 5328 4mm sunflower bead, one 5328 4mm tangerine bead, and one 5328 4mm white alabaster. Repeat this pattern 4 more times. At this point begin to twist the wired bead string around the handle on the luminary. Add more beads and continue twisting around handle until you reach the opposite side. Wire wrap to the luminary.

Step 3: Using the ball chains, slide on one of the candy corn components made in Step 1 to each of the chains. Hang the chains onto one side of the luminary.

Step 1: Using one eye pin slide on one 5328 4mm jet bead, one 5328 6mm crystal astral pink, and one 5328 4mm jet bead. Make a simple loop to close. Add one Halloween charm on the end. Repeat six more times using a different charm each time. Set aside.

Step 2: Using one eye pin slide on one 5328 3mm jet bead, one 5328 4mm crystal astral pink, one 5328 4mm jet bead, one 5000 6mm crystal astral pink, and one 5328 4mm jet bead. Make a simple loop to close. Using a jump ring attach one 6480 18mm jet spike pendant to the small end of the beaded eye pin. Repeat five more times. Set aside.

Step 3: To create the fringe on the top of the bag sew down one end of the Fireline. Then begin to slide on one 5328 3mm jet bead, one 5328 4mm jet bead, one 5328 3mm jet bead, one 5328 4mm jet bead, one 5328 3mm jet bead, one charm drop made in Step 1. At this point make a stitch into the felt bag to tack down the fringe. Now slide on one 5328 3mm jet bead, one 5328 4mm jet bead, one 5328 3mm jet bead, one 5328 4mm jet bead, one 5328 3mm jet bead, one spike drop made in Step 2. At this point make a stitch into the felt bag to tack down the fringe. Repeat this entire pattern 6 more times until all the charm and spike drops are attached. Sew down the end of the fringe to complete.

Tea Towel (or kitchen towel) with Halloween Design

Iron

1 sheet of Teflon

Instructions

Step 1: Using the Hotfix crystals from the supply list, create a pattern of your choice to highlight the design on the towel.

Step 2: Turn on iron to hottest setting, no steam, (there should be no water in the iron). Place the Teflon sheet gently over the crystals (in order not to move them) and press firmly with the iron to adhere. Do not move the iron back and forth or the crystals will move out of place.

Note: You can also use a hotfix applicator tool to set each crystal individually or use a piece of transfer tape over the crystals to hold them in place. Then place Teflon over tape and iron.

Supplies:

40” 20 gauge black artistic wire

24” 20 gauge orange artistic wire

1 Spider Coffee Mug

1 2” black head pin

Instructions

Step 1: To make the legs of the spider. Cut the black wire into eight 5” pieces. At one end of the wire (using a round nose plier) twist the wire around twice to create a small curl. Slide on twenty 5328 3mm crystal light chrome bicones and set aside. Repeat 7 more times and set aside.

Step 2: To make the body of the spider, use the head pin and slide on one 5328 4mm jet bicone and one 5050 22mm jet oval bead. Now begin wiring each leg (left, then right, then left) to the headpin right above the oval bead. Trim off excess wire with each leg attached. After the 8th leg is attached slide on the jet Pave Ball and push down to make leg wraps secure. Now with the round nose pliers turn the end of the headpin twice to make the hole spider secure.

Step 3: To create the web creatively wrap the orange wire around the handle of the cup and weave back and forth to make a web. Then attach the right front leg and back left leg of the spider to the web. Finally attach a piece of wire to the scarab bead and attach the bead to the web.
